Hollywood Type Landmark Signs

When I have heard about the news when they were trying to propose to add a “BATANGAS” sign on Taal Volcano to attact tourists. While this has been met with much ridicule, since it would be “Imitating” Hollywood, it is to note that there are lots of other place that have such as signage.

Consider the following Places:

Brasov, Romania

Hammarstrand, Sweden

Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang, Vietnam

Or maybe people from batangas just want to have signs similar to those who live in Baguio….

Like Jollibee (hehehe)

Or even Silver Swan (LOL)

April Showers and May Flowers...

Here I am in front of my computer (as usual) as I try to unwind myself during a lazy Sunday afternoon... It's a bit windy outside so I guess it compensates for the extreme heat that I have been experiencing for the past week. I also have all the lights off so I guess it saves power and gives the impression of being cooler (according to studies, house lights don't generate that much heat)

According to the AccuWeather application, the temperature is 32°C but it feels like it's 42°C. Hope it rains though, so that the weather would be a bit cooler (the weather forecast says it will rain tonight though).

There is a saying, April Showers will bring forth May Flowers. It rained only once though (via Cloud Seeding I think) and I hope it would rain so that the flora around us would grow again, not just the flowers, but even the crops... and say goodbye to the El Niño Phenomenon.

But I think summer is still far from over, Maybe another trip to the beach is in order before the month of June Sets in...

Happy Summer!

It's so CHEESY!!!

In the spirit of Valentine's... I present you the Cheesiest song I've heard to date (hehe)

ITS SO HOT!

It seems that summer is quickly approaching. I mean I used to dread taking a shower every morning that I heat water everyday (I really need to install that heating system soon). But it seems that every morning the rays of the sun hit my face and wake up sweating. It's getting really hot as I commute my way to work....

My friends in the U.S. are envious of our weather as it is snowing there. Well sometimes I miss the times when I wrap myself in thick blankets... Oh well, it's time for a tan anyway!

LET'S HIT THE BEACH!

Blogging Again

It's been a while since I have been here. I remember the times when I squeezed out my brain or let my heart out for some poetry and posted stuff here. I guess I kinda stopped as time passed by.

Blogging is a good stress reliever. Let everything out: Your joys, your sorrows, frustrations highs and lows. And after writing all of the stuff, suddenly you'll feel good.

Blogging isn't just for getting money from ads, or to let people know what's on your mind. Simply putting into words your thoughts and feelings into a blog is enough :)

I may be posting more stuff soon as I would visit this more often

Wireless Broadband Internet...

While I was at Somerset Olympia I tried connecting to the net via Wireless broadband as free Wi-fi only is at the lobby and the cost to have it enabled in your room is impractical. Since I was at the heart of Makati's Commercial Business District I was sure that I could get a strong signal regardless of the building network traffic due to the new year.

I started with Smart Bro.... It was a complete failure. I wasn't even able to connect to the server. Well I was able to get a signal and was able to connect earlier, but could not connect to any site nor log on to basic messenger services

Smart Bro

Then due to my frustration I used Globe Tattoo with Prepaid Sim inserted.

It was good the first few minutes as I got a modest transmit/receive speed

And then...

Globe Tattoo Prepaid (After)

Arrrgh.... (hehe)

I decided to borrow my Sister's Sun Wireless Broadband Prepaid and Got the Best Results :)

Sun 3G Broadband

Well my sister was about to use it as well so what I did ultimately was to Use Globe Tattoo with my Postpaid Sim

Taking things for Granted...

I was just browsing around when I chanced upon a young girl's rant about hating school. It's like she was arguing with her parents since they were forcing her to go to school. She even reasoned out that she doesn't need it just because she is already working in the entertainment field (model perhaps). And she can't wait to move out so that she could do what she wants.

I guess people take things for granted such basic things such as education. Entertainers and athletes alike. So what happens if she grows old or gets disfigured, or if he has a career ending injury then what happens? I see a lot of people lose their interest in learning once they earn a little bit. And as they earn more they get more and more arrogant.

Even if you earn because of your beauty and skills it is still important to have a fallback. And like it or not an education is a key to that. Although for people in the corporate world education is must for them this just becomes an option. Even if it is just an option it is important as well. Learning the basics from a different range of fields out there. Management, Operations or whatnot it is still useful.

People would say Experience is still the best teacher. Or that you only use 10% of what you learn when you step outside. There is still no substitute in building a good foundation from a formal education.

If these people only knew how some would jump at the chance to study for a better future. Or witness the hardships that families would make to give their child proper learning for his future ahead.

It's Been a while...

It's been a while since I have made a formal blog. Most of what I post are pictures or play games over the net. I guess my schedule was so hectic that I rarely compose my thoughts. As of late though, the day has been a bit slow (I guess because my team has finished daunting tasks one after the other)

I really need a vacation!

I guess I've been doing a lot of work lately, especially when I got my new computer. I've been logging on to my virtual-machine to do work. Man am I turning into a workaholic hahahaha.... I never even got to enjoy summer, well with the exception of our team building (swimming in the rain isn't so bad). Maybe before the end of the year I could go out of town (or even the country) just for some well deserved R&R (I need someone to accompany me though) .. Then again, I would wait for the H1N1 outbreak to be cured once and for all before I travel.

Nothing to update on my personal life though. I go out with friends, have drinks or watch movies but nothing really serious. I guess at this point in my life I feel contented (for now), sometimes though I get envious seeing couples stroll (haha).

I want to greet all the dads and would-be dads a HAPPY FATHERS DAY! (I'm not one of them). I haven't got a dad for 23 years now, but I'll just greet him in the sky tomorrow!

All the things I'm writing now are basically random (haha), as opposed to saying I was composing my thoughts. I guess my life is getting pretty routinary and no big updates to life I guess.

I'll just lay back here and drink my Ice Cold Coke (ahhhh!)

Brace Yourselves....

On a serious note... with regards to the world financial crisis, I hear lay-offs here and there and everybody is on panic mode... I guess people are now updating their resumes, linked in accounts and even mailing lists.
It's kind of sad about what is happening to today, losing colleagues you have worked with for some time. I do hope that by next year the crisis gets averted so everybody can be happy again.

I think the burden is on shoulders of everyone to improve the life we are living in. Continue to Strive hard. A good effort multiplied hundredfold will get good results in one way or another.

"Tough times will always come and go, but it's the Tough People who would always remain standing in the end."

My 2008 Christmas Wish List

Since there are 30 days left before Christmas, here a
re the things that I want (Wish list)

1. Flat Screen TV (29") with DVD Player or Home Theater (I really wish haha)

2. A New Computer
3. Range/Stove (So I can bake and cook my roast chicken again)
4. A new gaming console (X Box 360?)

Actually those are just replacement stuff.... The equipment at home is really getting old.

It's not all material stuff however. I also wish for:

1. Good Health and Long life for my Mom
2. Good Health for My Self (I'm not getting any younger)
3. Continued Stability in my Work (baring the world crisis)
4. Someone who will love me unconditionally (HAHAHAHAHA!)
5. Peace and Harmony within my Family
6. Good Friends and Good Times

Putting religion aside, Christmas isn't just a commercialized holiday. It still means giving, caring... It still means being with your family and friends... For some it means spending a little more after being frugal for the past 11 months... No matter what they say, it's still the happiest time of the year when I can act like a kid and put my worries aside till next year :)

By Next Week I would be Buying Gifts and Whatnot to the people close to me.... any wish lists? (hehehe)

My Diamond of a Mother

My Mom just turned 75 years old today. Since it's 75 years, that makes her a diamond right? :) The woman referred as "Ma" by everybody in the house, which includes the grandchildren, grandnephews and grandnieces; is celebrating her birthday on the 18th of November (today). Yesterday I bought her Coffee Crunch cake from Red Ribbon. It's her favorite Cake. I'm more of a chocolate cake lover (see previous blog post).

We even got cake from the City of Makati. Well being a senior citizen and all, she always gets cake every birthday. So we have an extra cake at home as well hahahaha. These past two years we have been celebrating at "Dampa" (a place where you have your purchased items at the wet market cooked by the staff). This year, we haven't decided yet, my mom maybe a little sensitive to seafood right now so maybe we could go pasta, or grill.

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY MA!

Having My Cake...

Just felt like eating a slice of cake today... I've been feeling sick over the weekend and I'm here at the office, still not feeling well. Although my friend told me that bioflu works wonders. I'll just pamper my self and eat my cake (hehe)

Two Shades Darker

After spending a very hot day at Manila Memorial park with my folks yesterday (November 2). I think I have turned two shades darker hahahaha. We were expecting the weather to be cloudy, so that the temperature would be a bit cooler. But alas it was not to be, whether it was playing volleyball or badminton, the angry sun was staring down at us (Ironically, it is raining today). I think I suffered a heatstroke as well from buying food around noon (we walked toward the food stalls). I bought 6 pieces of chicken from KFC and a box of mojo's (w/o the dip, it was out of stock when we got there) from Shakey'. I think I experienced the effects of the searing heat in the afternoon when I felt a bit woozy and my face flushed. I took the water from the cooler (which was actually melted tube ice) and splashed it on my face. I also drank Pearl Coolers (?) from Greenwich (which actually gave me brain freeze). It did help though

I think we left the cemetery around 4:30 in the afternoon and Arrived home around 6. The vehicles within the area are still piling up. When I got home and changed, I noticed something when I took off my watch. I think I have gotten a tan line (hahahahahaha). So I took a picture of it. My skin wasn't even like this yesterday. It isn't even summer yet.

Note to self: Always bring sunscreen...
