Brace Yourselves....

On a serious note... with regards to the world financial crisis, I hear lay-offs here and there and everybody is on panic mode... I guess people are now updating their resumes, linked in accounts and even mailing lists.
It's kind of sad about what is happening to today, losing colleagues you have worked with for some time. I do hope that by next year the crisis gets averted so everybody can be happy again.

I think the burden is on shoulders of everyone to improve the life we are living in. Continue to Strive hard. A good effort multiplied hundredfold will get good results in one way or another.

"Tough times will always come and go, but it's the Tough People who would always remain standing in the end."

My 2008 Christmas Wish List

Since there are 30 days left before Christmas, here a
re the things that I want (Wish list)

1. Flat Screen TV (29") with DVD Player or Home Theater (I really wish haha)

2. A New Computer
3. Range/Stove (So I can bake and cook my roast chicken again)
4. A new gaming console (X Box 360?)

Actually those are just replacement stuff.... The equipment at home is really getting old.

It's not all material stuff however. I also wish for:

1. Good Health and Long life for my Mom
2. Good Health for My Self (I'm not getting any younger)
3. Continued Stability in my Work (baring the world crisis)
4. Someone who will love me unconditionally (HAHAHAHAHA!)
5. Peace and Harmony within my Family
6. Good Friends and Good Times

Putting religion aside, Christmas isn't just a commercialized holiday. It still means giving, caring... It still means being with your family and friends... For some it means spending a little more after being frugal for the past 11 months... No matter what they say, it's still the happiest time of the year when I can act like a kid and put my worries aside till next year :)

By Next Week I would be Buying Gifts and Whatnot to the people close to me.... any wish lists? (hehehe)

My Diamond of a Mother

My Mom just turned 75 years old today. Since it's 75 years, that makes her a diamond right? :) The woman referred as "Ma" by everybody in the house, which includes the grandchildren, grandnephews and grandnieces; is celebrating her birthday on the 18th of November (today). Yesterday I bought her Coffee Crunch cake from Red Ribbon. It's her favorite Cake. I'm more of a chocolate cake lover (see previous blog post).

We even got cake from the City of Makati. Well being a senior citizen and all, she always gets cake every birthday. So we have an extra cake at home as well hahahaha. These past two years we have been celebrating at "Dampa" (a place where you have your purchased items at the wet market cooked by the staff). This year, we haven't decided yet, my mom maybe a little sensitive to seafood right now so maybe we could go pasta, or grill.

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY MA!

Having My Cake...

Just felt like eating a slice of cake today... I've been feeling sick over the weekend and I'm here at the office, still not feeling well. Although my friend told me that bioflu works wonders. I'll just pamper my self and eat my cake (hehe)

Two Shades Darker

After spending a very hot day at Manila Memorial park with my folks yesterday (November 2). I think I have turned two shades darker hahahaha. We were expecting the weather to be cloudy, so that the temperature would be a bit cooler. But alas it was not to be, whether it was playing volleyball or badminton, the angry sun was staring down at us (Ironically, it is raining today). I think I suffered a heatstroke as well from buying food around noon (we walked toward the food stalls). I bought 6 pieces of chicken from KFC and a box of mojo's (w/o the dip, it was out of stock when we got there) from Shakey'. I think I experienced the effects of the searing heat in the afternoon when I felt a bit woozy and my face flushed. I took the water from the cooler (which was actually melted tube ice) and splashed it on my face. I also drank Pearl Coolers (?) from Greenwich (which actually gave me brain freeze). It did help though

I think we left the cemetery around 4:30 in the afternoon and Arrived home around 6. The vehicles within the area are still piling up. When I got home and changed, I noticed something when I took off my watch. I think I have gotten a tan line (hahahahahaha). So I took a picture of it. My skin wasn't even like this yesterday. It isn't even summer yet.

Note to self: Always bring sunscreen...

Rainy Days and Stormy Knights

It's sunday. Normally we would be eating lunch at some mall after mass then go around to shop or just look. But right now I'm just stranded in my room typing this post on my phone. With no internet or cable to amuse me, I'll just try to post my spur-of-the-moment thoughts here.

It's the rainy season again. The typhoons are coming. Which is why I am cooped up in my room instead of being out where-only-god-knows. Also the storms have left us with no cable television. And internet connections have been shaky at best. I am grateful though, that I got this new phone. It's an HTC Dual Touch Model. So I'm trying to post my blog via mobile. Although I have been encountering signal problems earlier.

Since the weather is bad, expected again are people carrying umbrellas and wearing jackets as they trudge to and fro to work or school. Also expect traffic jams and the inability to get a ride. And of course we have floods. Floods that would strand you in the middle of the side walk and you have no where to go. Even recently I saw boats (yes, boats) along the road (yeesh)

This afternoon, we tried to order to have our food delivered. Unfortunately, the restaurants we ordered from declined to deliver due to the bad weather. So I left the house, took the tricycle to KFC. Along the way though, the tricycle motor "died" because of the flood. So I got down, waited for another one to pass by. In the end, I got back home, food in tow, looking like what we term as a "basang sisiw". I was just glad to be back home.

We were fortunate though, that we have electricity. I mean, some of my friends don't have power in their homes. Some don't even have running water (which for me, is the worst thing to happen).

Storms are really a force of nature to be reckoned with. I've heard about the hurricane that swept the midwest recently. Back here, I hope that the underprivileged can cope. I woke up at 3 a.m. this morning due to the electric sparks that were visible. Scary!

On a lighter note, it's much cooler now. I don't use the aircon much anymore. So goodbye to 7k meralco bills *sigh*. I think we can save half right now hahaha.

Speaking of power bills, did you that the Philippines charges the most expensive with regards to power next to Japan. What the? Japan is one of the richest countries with powerful consumer spending. But us? *sighs again*.

I heard from the news that power will be restored once the angry winds have calmed down. I guess the rainy season is finally here.

Random Thought for Today (06/02/08)

I was listening to the song Apologize by Timbaland featuring One Republic. And then I noticed that Timbaland never even sang one line of the song. My officemate quipped that maybe the "Woah Woah" at the end of the song was sung by him (haha). Usually the one singing is the one credit but I guess this is a first...

I wonder... hmmmmm

Is Everyone Tired of Living right Now?!?

I just read two freaky posts from my friends... one of them posted "Hanggang Dito na Lang... Paalam", the other one's entry in his journal is "I almost killed my self yesterday". Almost meant he was about to drink beer with Rat Poison.

What The?!?

Life is beautiful no matter how many trials and tribulations you encounter. You have a lot of people around who care for you, lots of opportunities to be found outside. Just have faith, and everything will be alright.

I remember a few years back (2003) when I was jobless, neck-deep in debt and a slew of personal problems coming left and right, just like my friends now, I wondered what would happen if I could just end it all, it would be easy right? But then it came to me.... Not only would you go straight to hell, it would cause devastation and sorrow to the people you are leaving behind, your family, your loved ones, your friends. What would happen to them? How would they be affected by the stupid action you would cause?

My family ultimately came to my rescue. Remember, even if your friends desert you... your family will always be there. It was through them you would learn how life is worth living. That the love and care of a person is suffice for one to go beyond their limits and conquer all adversities.

So Don't be stupid to take your own life if you feel you can't go on. Remember, there are people around who love and care for you. These are just trials going on in your life.

And you can't know how sweet being successful without knowing how bitter the taste of failure can be.

I just got home and to my horror I found out that my niece has been arguing with the brother of her boyfriend. To my utter disdain I read the last line of his message was "DAMN YOU". Note that the guy is 25 and my niece is 17. If you are a 25 year old guy would you say that to a girl? Especially when you consider that she is still a teen ager

So me and this idiot text back and forth. The only thing I was concerned about was the curse he said. And here are some of the idiots replies. (He even capitalized everything and in tagalog while I was texting him in english)

"PLEASE ASK UR NIECE TO STAY AWAY FROM MY BROTHER"

I asked why. I even called up but he just rejected my calls. Maybe he doesn't want to be proven wrong or afraid he might mess up so he texted me again

"I DNT NEED 2 XPLAIN NOBODY"

I didn't want to correct him that it should be "I don't need to explain to anybody". If I do that he might just spout some more wrong grammar hahahahaha. I kept explaining to him but I guess given the person he is, it seemed to be hopeless. I just asked him why I he was cursing my niece. I mean I don't even do that to family, what gives him the right to do so.

And he said:

"ALAM MO PARE CURSING AND TELLING SUM1 2 STAY AWAY FROM MY BROTHER ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS"

I said, how about the "Damn You Thingie"

He said:

'Hindi Curse yun pare, Dnt tell me pagka minura mo ako it means you are cursing me"

That is why I even researched the proper definition of curse here. (I highlighted the important items)

And in the end: "CRAP ITONG PINAGUUSAPAN NATIN"

Oh well, I guess people are like these nowadays. Petty, Stupid. I have nothing against Students of high class exclusive schools, but sorry, why is it the people I encounter from this school is an asshole one way or another. Please prove me wrong.

And to that Idiot I'm texting. Please grow up...

What The?!? I think my nose is bleeding...

Arrrrggggh..... What the?

Trying to get a quick break from work, I was browsing around. Then I saw a shoutout at friendster... what the hell? Is there a new meaning of magistrate that I don't know of?

"maNy g!rls adSum ENVY at me..MAGISTRATE & ABHOR mE.. bUt ! dOn't cAre!!!! I have my oWn L!fe & stYLe... And F yOu tHnK u'r sO h!ghEr dAn mE??? FUCK!!! u'r wRong g!rL... nO OnE cAn LeVeL mE uP!!!!"

Sigh! guess it's true, the Population of the World is growing, but the sum of the intelligence on this planet remains a constant

But don't they have spelling and grammar checkers nowadays?

There are some bloggers who posted stuff similar to this:

Summer Heat! (03/30/2008)

Three Words: "IT'S SO HOT!"

The past few weeks are what I dub as "Hell On Earth". Summer has finally come, and it isn't as pleasant as it seems. Temperatures rising, desperate times call for desperate measures as I open my aircon again and for longer than usual. I go to work and as I walk along the sidewalk it feels that I'm melting (melting, melting).

Well at least I have airconditioning. My aircon broke down last year at the peak of summer so I spent my time sneaking into my mom's room just to get some cold air hehehehe.

Well since it's summer, it means that people are flocking to beaches. I don't get it though. Why do people go to hot places such as beaches during the summer when it is really HOT!. Oh well, go with the flow hehehehe.

Although I have plans to go to the beach as well. This april, me and my friends plan to go to Puerto Galera, the Philippines' overcrowded beach with the night life on the side ehehehehe. There we would spend our weekend drinking ourselves to oblivion then dunking our heads in the cold water to sober up again (HAHAHAHA!). We would also bikini watch, and compare notes hehe; then ride the banana boat and get thrown out of it. Of course we would stay out late to enjoy the nightlife there. Afterwards I will take a day of sick work because I was too tired partying (just kidding).

On May I would go with my folks (my sister is coming home) to Bohol. It would be my first time there. I would finally see chocolate hills (yehey!) although I don't think it chocolatey any more haha. Then see the choir singing along Loboc River. See the sights again. At least I would have the time to travel. All I do is work nowadays (Although I wanna go to Boracay or Palawan again before the year ends).

Despite the heat, I'm gonna make my summer worthwhile. Just as long as I wouldn't be burnt into a crisp afterwards *bleh*

Thought for Today! (03/08/2008)

It's been a while since I posted anything here. Been busy with work and other whatnot hehehe. If I have the time, I might be able to post something noteworthy... but not right now. I just feel like rambling on and on and on without any sense whatsoever.

Oh well, It's March, and it's still cold... talk about the summer coming. Although my sister and her brother in law would come here this May and we would accompany them to Bohol for a three day/two night vacation. I might join my friends this coming April (or May) to Puerto Galera. I think the last time I was with these guys there was way back 2006, where we drank the so-called "Mindoro Sling" and feasted on fish balls for pulutan. And who could ever forget the people who say things when they are drunk... Those were the days hahahahahaha.

It's holy week next week and It's time to reflect back on what we did. I remember the time when me and my folks go to baclaran church every holy thursday and eat at jollibee or dunkin donuts afterwards hehehehehe. I used to think that going to baclaran is far when I was a kid. When I realized that I used to commute from makati to alabang to work before made me think differently (also during the time when I go to Manila Memorial during All Saints Day... I compained that it was far... then I realized that I was working somewhere farther hehehehe). Well holy week doubles as vacation time for me since we will have a longer weekend. Although I would stay home since everybody out there is going somewhere and it would be quiet for a change hahahahahaha. Although holy week isn't so holy anymore with the advent of cable television (oh well)

How time flies fast. I just reminisced on my stay at Summerset Olympia during the new year and now its almost april... Soon, it will be christmas again (haha)

Till next time! :)
